I'd like to take a minute to introduce my husband and myself. Frank has been a UPS driver for 30 years and I spent much of my life as the stay-at-home Mom of our 9 beautiful children. We are now also happy grandparents to 6 beautiful grandchildren. Today, we want to share with you something that has been a positive element in our family's lives for 16+ years: Shaklee. You may or may not have heard much of Shaklee before, but here is our “Shaklee Effect” story.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's with my Mom using Shaklee's Basic H ("H" for Household) as her all time favorite window cleaner. I even enjoyed using the Basic H that my Mom had given me as a wedding shower gift. However, it wasn't until early 2009 that I learned how much the company had grown and how much easier it was to order with the advent of the Internet. Initially, I had just wanted to get more Basic H, until I realized that Shaklee now had a whole line of non-toxic cleaners. Frank and I were excited to rid our home of toxic chemical cleaners and replace them with Shaklee's awesome, green "Get Clean" products and we have happily used them ever since. Even our children noticed that our drinking glasses didn't smell like chemicals anymore as they came out of the dishwasher, and I realized that I no longer had to hold my breath when I went to get laundry detergent. However, it was because of my pregnancy with Nicolette (my 7th) that Shaklee's nutrition actually got my attention. I was experiencing extreme fatigue which continued into my second trimester, which I knew was not normal. I was taking a multivitamin, but through the suggestion of a Shaklee friend, I decided to give some of Shaklee's supplements a try, what did I have to lose? I was amazed!!! I had never thought that taking a multivitamin did much. I was a firm believer of "I will get my vitamins and minerals from my food."But, within a week of taking a few Shaklee supplements, I was no longer clinging to the bed every morning, too tired to get out and do much of anything. Believe me, I was super conservative with what I took. I even took Dr. Shaklee's original liquid multivitamin (LiquiLea) which has fewer nutrients than the newer VitaLea multivitamin tablets. With this, I also took Shaklee's B Complex, Osteomatirx (Shaklee's Calcium/Magnesium), and Herblax (Shaklee's gentle herbal laxative). I could hardly believe what an improvement it gave me! In about a week, my fatigue was gone! With Shaklee Vitalizer, I never even got the typical “first trimester fatigue” with my pregnancies with Leo (my 8th) or Remi (my 9th).I saw the difference and went on happily using Shaklee cleaners, nutrition and skin & body care. Throughout this time, Frank was also impressed by Shaklee's non-toxic cleaners and body care and had great results with Shaklee's Vitilizer and Blood Pressure complex in 2014 for his DOT physical.However, in early 2015, events happened such that I started to realize that I should be paying it forward and actively sharing what Shaklee has to offer rather than just keep it to myself and so I held a booth at a local grade school carnival.

At the same time, I also decided that I was going to try Shaklee's “180” weight loss/management products. I knew I had started to gain back weight I'd lost after Remi was born and Remi and Leo were 15 months apart, so I still had weight from Leo’s pregnancy too. This part of my journey with Shaklee was really meaningful to me. Not only did I lose 23 pounds and retain lean muscle, but the Life Shakes are truly healthy (Shaklee never uses artificial sweeteners, flavors, colors, or preservatives) and the Life Shakes satisfied me and helped me feel great while I was losing the weight. This set me up to avoid gaining it back!

It is up to each of us to take responsibility for our own health. But throughout 2015, I started to tap into my passion to help people in their quest to live happier, healthier lives.
