Natural Management of Neurodegenerative Diseases
Dr. Frank Painter, D.C.

A guideline for the treatment of Alzheimer's dementia was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine in March 2008. Researchers reviewed the outcomes from 59 different, randomized Alzheimer's trials, performed over the last 19 years. The news was not good.

The 5 drugs currently approved by the FDA to treat dementia all failed to provide “clinically important improvements” for the patients who took them. It advised providers that: “Clinicians must take into account the adverse effects of these drugs, and balance potential harm against the modest potential benefits.”

Tonight we will review the most common neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Huntington's diseases, Multiple Sclerosis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). We will discuss the specific nutritional deficiencies that seem to contribute to their onset. Finally, we will review the Shaklee nutritional supplements that have been shown to be effective in slowing the progression of, and reducing the symptoms associated with these diseases.
